Oh, what could you do, if only you had a strong will. Or rather, what could you not do? Some people say: “Anything is possible if you put your mind to it!” I wouldn’t go that far… Many things are just impossible, and I am not talking just about defying the laws of physics.
Nevertheless, if we don’t dwell on the precise validity of the statement, there is some truth to it. Everyone has sometimes wished they would have not turned on the TV, opened the Facebook timeline, browsed the Instagram, started the game, opened that beer, bought that bottle, smoked that joint, drank that much… There was always one thing that could’ve stopped them. Themselves. Why didn’t they? Instant gratification. Because why wait? Why not enjoy life at every opportunity? After all, you never know what tomorrow brings.
Why should you keep in check? Isn’t it good to let off steam? Sure. Why not. But is it helping you? Are you better off 10 minutes, 10 hours or 10 days later?
That is the question. You shouldn’t ask do i deserve it, or has it been long enough since last time? Ask yourself this: “Am I certain, to the best of my knowledge, that this will help me?” And then ask the same in retrospect: “Was it helpful? Was it worth it?” And next time, you can make a better estimate…
Harvest the data you produce. Harvest your data, because Facebook, Google, Amazon and all other corporations already are. And it is going quite well for them.
With that data, direct your will. Decide what is worth it and what effort would go in vain, based on knowledge. Not feelings. The algorithms do not feel. The alcohol does not feel. The drugs have no feelings either. And they control you. https://youtu.be/zBFXFzqIjHM
Good luck.
