Easy life. You wake up, you go someplace, you do simple work, you go back, you have some fun, you go to sleep. Who can really say their life is hard? Especially of all the people that can read this article.
In the Aldous Huxley’s novel Brave new World, there is a drug, called soma, that does precisely that what is in my opinion impossible. It silences the bad within and gives way only to the good seemingly without any hangover or withdrawal effect.
Why are people constantly wishing to escape reality? Is it only happening to people that are somehow not satisfied with their life? Or is it only about fun? Is anyone escaping to a shittier reality then they live in?
Humans tend to a baseline mood. For some, maybe, this baseline is at an acceptable height, I however believe that for most, this baseline is feeling miserable. If you have no clue what I am talking about right now, you are one of the lucky ones…
